Puppy FAQs

So where does the name Vom Waldestraum come from or what does it mean and how do you pick your puppy names?
Vom Waldestraum means from the dream of the woods, our favorite place to hike with our dogs from the moutains of California to the Black Forest in Germany. Our litters follow along with the alphabet in naming convention. We prefer two syllable German names with two notable exceptions: In honor of Dean's Mexican heritage, we try to name at least one puppy in each litter with a Mexican name if not more. Also, in memory and tribute to his good friend, Floyd Redcrow Westerman, we use Native American names with only the utmost respect.

Cita

Here at vom Waldestraum, we are dedicated to one of the principal sayings of Herr von Stephanitz "... a German Shepherd Dog is a healthy hard energetic working dog" but we also adhere to yet another principal of Herr von Stephanitz "...you must have form for function". With many breeders, the only attribute they state about their dog is how strong they are in protection. However, here at vom Waldestraum, we pride ourselves in breeding dogs that are trainable, healthy, and have correct form for excellent function without sacrificing the real fighting drive that a German Shepherd Dog must possess. With this breeding, we hope to produce an outstanding litter that meets this criteria of form for function in a healthy, hard, energetic working dog.
